There are a total of 87 tea estates in the hills which have been accorded the status for its produce, as DarjeelingTea by the G.I registration. These estates cover over 17,500 hectares producing over 6-9 million kg of tea that is about 50 percent people of the district.

Trader

DarjeelingTea is being traded through auction in domestic market as well as overseas. Traders buy the tea directly from Tea Gardens or through Auctions. Traders can obtain Certificate of Origin from the Tea Board which is mandatory for export.

Auctioneer

DarjeelingTea is traded through public Auctions by registered Auctioneers. Main Auction center for Darjeeling tea is Kolkata.

Importer

Importers can signup in DarjeelingTea to submit returns against the shipment they received.
